We use the different modalities we have been trained in assess and treat soft tissue imbalances and musculoskeletal pain.
This doesn't mean you need to have an injury to receive a treatment.
Below are listed some of the "types" of treatments we offer.
Morganne, the founder and lead therapist of Portobello Health Hub, is a fully qualified and insured Sports Massage and Remedial Soft Tissue therapist with over 12 years of experience treating individuals and professional athletes.
Her aim is to work collectively with other therapists and their specialties to deliver a truly holistic body treatment.
Your treatment will start with an assessment where we discuss what brought you in, before moving onto some simple tests in order to see how you do move and highlight the areas where work is required.
This is where the soft tissue therapy comes into play.
I targets the connective tissue of your body – i.e the muscles, the fascia, the tendons and ligaments - using different techniques ranging from simple deep tissue massage to myofascial release, trigger point therapy, instrument assisted, to work more specifically to ease pain, improve posture and function, injury recovery and to ease tired and aching muscles.
We may re-test through the session to see that we’re going the right way and at the end of treatment also, finally sending you home with a treatment plan and some home exercises.
The Jing Method, which is simply the name given to a bunch of great techniques that the founders of the Jing Institute* chose for their training. The techniques include the best from both Eastern and Western traditions including; trigger point therapy, myofascial release, acupressure and stretching — combined with an understanding of the biopsychosocial model of pain and modern neuroscience. As a Jing therapist, I am interested in forming a therapeutic alliance with my client, to empower them to make a difference to the pain they experience. The personal approach is what makes it effective.
This allows me to treat chronic musculoskeletal pain including; back pain, sciatica, neck pain, whiplash injuries, migraines, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, knee pain, ligament and tendon issues. This approach can also benefit systemic conditions such as; fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and plantar fasciitis.
I am fully qualified and insured, I’m a member of the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO). I have specialist training in Pregnancy Massage Therapy (which was accredited by the Federation of Antenatal Educators).
I am particularly proud to serve my local LGBTQ+ community. Anyone is welcome as a client to my clinic as long as you are kind and respectful.

Our therapists are skilled in treating chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions such as back pain, sciatica, neck pain, whiplash injuries, migraines, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, knee pain, ligament and tendon issues.
We also provide relief for systemic conditions like fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and plantar fasciitis.
We all experience random aches and pains that seem to come from nowhere, but these are often the result of compensatory patterns our bodies have adopted over time.
At Portobello Health Hub, our Sports & Remedial Massage Treatments address these specific pain patterns by identifying potential causes, focusing on areas of tension and pain, and providing home exercises to address imbalances.
Pain we can help with - Neck pain, Shoulder pain, Frozen shoulder, Tennis elbow, Golfers elbow, Knee pain, Achilles Tendonopathy, Lower back pain, Sacroilliac Joint Pain.
Please ask at your appointment or when booking a massage if you have any questions about your pain.
In addition to treating specific conditions, our massage treatments promote relaxation and well-being.
Massage works with your nervous system, helping you enter the rest and digest phase, and can release feel-good hormones like dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins, which can relieve anxiety, depression, and pain.
Relaxation is something that is hard to come by these days. We are all running from point A to point B and making sure we get all of our to do list done. But as the saying goes, you can't pour from an empty cup.
So, if you think that you could do with some TLC please just get in touch to book in your massage.
Our "Body MOT" is a full-body deep tissue remedial massage treatment designed to address areas of tension and provide home exercises to help address imbalances.
We can also focus on specific areas, such as the upper or lower body, upon request.
If you're training for an event like a marathon, Tough Mudder, or triathlon, incorporating Sports Massage into your regimen can help prevent injuries and promote healing.
Our pre-and post-event treatments can help keep you on track in the lead-up to the event by addressing tension and pain that may arise from training, and aiding in recovery afterwards.
In your first massage treatment, we start with what has brought you to the clinic.
We have a bit more of an in depth conversation about where and when you started noticing your pain/issue. This leads us onto quick postural and movement assessment, before getting you on the table and working through what we find.
At the end of the session we will repeat the movements and see how you are feeling. Home exercises and a treatment plan are discussed.
Ideally these Treatments are 60 minutes to give us the time required, but we can address issues in shorter times with less time spent on the table.
Follow up Remedial Massage appointments are for subsequent appointments after the initial assessment.
These can be shorter in length as we can focus straight to the areas that we had identified previously.
We will have a quick check in and look at movement but we will get you on the table as quick as possible. Home exercises and plans will be r-evaluated as we go.
These appointments can be any length 30min, 45min or 60min depending on preference as well as how much of the body we are focusing on.
