We will start with a wee chat about preparing for birth, we will practice breathing techniques to promote relaxation before I lead you through a guided relaxing meditation.

Hi I'm Rowan. I'm a single mum to 3 kids and I live in Edinburgh. I've always been obsessed with birth and I was lucky to grow up in a home where birth and breastfeeding were very normal, and not feared which I know is very unusual. I always wanted to work with pregnant people and babies and this passion was reignited when I became pregnant with my first baby. I was a young mum (21) when I had her and the contact I had with NHS midwives was not great even though I knew I had choices! I ended up booking with an independent midwife and had an amazing homebirth. I had 2 more brilliant births with my next 2 babies, at home with independent midwifery support.
I trained with The Scottish Birth Teachers Association in 2013 but wasn't able to work at that time. I then trained as an NHS Breastfeeding Peer supporter in 2017, as a Hypnobirthing teacher with the Riot Birth Network in 2021 and most recently as a doula with Red Tent Doulas.
It's very important to me that pregnant people know that they have choices and rights during pregnancy and birth. It's also very important to me to help foster community as pregnancy and post-partum can be very lonely times if you don't have support and connection.
Pregnancy relaxation classes will hopefully allow you to make connections with people in the local area, take some time for yourself and your baby during your pregnancy and help prepare you for a positive birth and post-partum.
